Serial port

Hi,

I can't find an example on how to use a serial port.

I use:

Code:

s: open serial://

which opens com1

but if I do

Code:

insert s "a"

the console freezes forever.

I'm under windows and up to now nothing is connected to the serial ports.

Can anyone help me?

I think it's normal for it to freeze if there's nothing attached to the serial port.

So how can I test my rogram is doing things right without a "terminal" on the other end of the port?

Can I do a "loopback" on the 2nd port with a 3 wire crossed cable and use hyperterminal on it?
