XML over HTTPS
« on: February 03, 2008, 01:58:39 PM »

Hi,

I've just been allocated a project that needs to speak XML over HTTPS. Is Rebol suitable for this?

Help much appreciated!

Yes (and no - mainly yes).

https is officially supported in REBOL/Command (commercial) but there may be some community secure http drivers flaoting around for REBOL/Core or REBOL/View.

http://www.rebol.com/docs/ssl.html

Out of the box, XML support in REBOL is there, but others have extended the markup loader for more complete XML handling.

http://www.rebol.com/docs/words/wparse-xml.html  (builtin)
and
http://www.rebol.org/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/rebol/view-script.r?script=xml-parse.r (one possible extension layer)

Cheers,
Brian Tiffin

And the obligatory; "Things will change with REBOL release 3"
