Just installed Rebol core and view on a linux box for the first time. After installation I do get the "dist" directory but it only contains a view and core directory. Both of these directories simply have reatme.txt and rebol. The documentation indicates that the install should have helper files like setup.r which are not there.
Any thoughts on this? Can I download separately? I did the install on a windows machine and it did include all extra files, etc.

It depends if you downloaded a later version from rebol.net or the official version from rebol.com. The later versions are packed in the way you describe, while the official versions are packed in the way that is written in the manual.
